EVALUATION
IRFOL's primary purpose was research but we also carried out evaluations on behalf of other institutions and programmes. Evaluations include:-
AFFORD
AFFORD, The African Foundation for Development (www.afford-uk.org) is working with Fahamu (www.fahamu.org) to deliver an innovative course: Fundraising & Resource Mobilization among the African diaspora in the UK - a distance learning course for individuals & organizations.
IRFOL carried out an evaluation of the Fundraising and Resource Mobilisation course on behalf of AFFORD in 2004.

Adilisha
Fahamu (www.fahamu.org.uk), in association with the University of Oxford , has pioneered and field-tested a unique and innovative approach to capacity building of civil society organisations working in the field of human rights, using CDROMs, workshops and the internet in a programme known as Adilisha (Kiswahili for teaching or promoting justice).
IRFOL carried out an evaluation of the Adilisha courses on behalf of Fahamu in 2002/2003.

JustWrite
Just Write is an online course on effective writing pioneered by Fahamu (www.fahamu.org.uk). It consists of an intensive course which combines study material, interactive exercises, on line discussions with fellow participants and individual online tuition from the course tutor. This course will help you develop your skills as a writer to support your advocacy work. It will be of particular interest to anybody planning to produce a: research report, thesis, book or book chapter, advocacy document, paper for publication, essay - or any other substantial piece of written work.
IRFOL carried out an evaluation of the Just Write course on behalf of Fahamu in 2004.

WIFIP
The International Extension College (IEC) is currently involved with the Women in Fishing Industry Project (WIFIP) in Kenya . The project focuses on women in the Lake Victoria region who work in the fishing industry. By developing a radio-based education programme, it aims to build women's capacity in running small business enterprises, and also incorporates a health awareness programme in order to reduce the spread of STIs in the area.
IRFOL carried out an evaluation of the pilot phase of the WIFIP project on behalf of the IEC in 2003.

SOMDEL
The AFRICA EDUCATIONAL TRUST (AET) supports education in Africa especially in areas where there is civil war or conflict. AET, in conjunction with the BBC World Service Trust launched an innovative educational programme combining radio, print and face-to-face teaching in Somali and Somaliland . The Somali Distance Education Programme (SOMDEL) is known in Somali as Macallinka (Radio Teacher).
IRFOL carried out an evaluation of the SOMDEL programme on behalf of AET in 2003.
