Approaches to Basic Education in Countries Emerging from Conflict
Children playingThis DFID funded research project is being undertaken jointly by IRFOL and The Africa Educational Trust (AET) and includes collaborative research with African partners. Although there is a growing literature on education in emergencies - dealing with the needs of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP's), there is a lack of information on the provision of basic education and alternative education for young people and children affected by conflict in their own countries. This research will make a considerable contribution to new understandings of the complexity of educational delivery to those most disadvantaged.

The final report will be published later in 2006.
