Field-based Models of Primary Teacher Training IRFOL undertook a project on behalf of DFID called 'Field-based Models of Primary Teacher Training. Case Studies of Student Support Systems from Sub-Saharan Africa'. This project follows on from previous IRFOL studies for DFID and UNESCO on the use of distance education and ICTS in teacher training. The research investigates key issues in the effective management of distance education for teachers with a focus on models for decentralised management, student support, classroom practice and technology choice. The outcome of the project will be a set of practical guides for decision-makers. Hard copy of the report is now available free from DFID. It is number 63 in a series of Education Papers.
