TRAINING

IRFOL was committed to building capacity in the organisations we worked with through the training of researchers and research residencies. We undertook a major project for the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) called Practitioner Research Skills Training Programme (PREST). PREST is a series of self-study materials to develop basic research and evaluation skills for ODL practitioners working in contexts where they have limited research capacity or support. These materials, available on the COL website have been well received and reviewed. They have also resulted in requests from individual institutions for bespoke training workshops. The most recent is one IRFOL ran for the University of the South Pacific.

IRFOL has also hosted some very successful research residencies which gave ODL practioners the space and time to develop their own research proposals with access to IRFOL's resources and staff.
